Propane Emergency Response Network
 

Dear First Responder and Law Enforcement:

The MPGA is pleased to offer the Propane Emergency Response Network (PERN) to all Michigan Fire departments and other first responders.  

The PERN consists of a network of regionalized teams, to assist first responders during a propane emergency.  PERN offers a toll free number for local first responders to call to receive information and/or on-site, talented experts to assist and consult with local first responders, provide additional training to the industry and first responders, and have on-site equipment to help remedy the propane emergency.

PERN is supported by an emergency response support service with a specific toll free number that will be monitored 24–7. The MPGA PERN committee has established an "on call" team that will respond to onsite commanders in charge at a propane incident. To support this PERN team, MPGA has designed and outfitted a special trailer with the needed equipment to handle any kind of propane emergency.

This toll free number is only for the on site commander in charge at a propane incident. All other calls that do not fit this criterion will be instructed to dial 911.

If a first responder on the scene at propane emergency requires assistance at a propane incident, please call the toll free PERN number (866.880.2564) for immediate assistance.
