Installation

Propane tanks can be large or portable — and safely buried, virtually invisible to a homeowner. A large, centrally located ASME tank can even provide propane to an entire development of homes.

An ASME propane tank can be buried with minimal excavation costs, leaving only a small dome visible just inches above the ground. This dome allows for easy servicing and refilling, and it can be easily screened with shrubs or other plantings to blend seamlessly into a home's overall landscaping.

When selecting a location for the placement of a DOT cylinder or ASME storage container, you should evaluate only accessible, safety-approved sites.

Your propane retailer can advise you on proper tank size and location and handle both the installation and the gas hookup to the house. From start to finish, you'll get the help you need to do the job right.

Tax Incentives and Rebates Available for Energy Efficient Propane Building Systems

In December 2010 Congress passed legislation extending several tax credits related to residential energy efficiency. Homeowners now have another year to take advantage of tax credits for energy efficient propane furnaces or water heaters. The legislation also allows homebuilders to receive federal tax credits for high efficiency homes built in 2010 and 2011, by extending the corporate tax credit which was in place up until the end of 2009.

Click here for a fact sheet that provides an overview of these credits as well as several others related to propane building systems at the federal, state, and local level. The summary describes credits for propane equipment, and in some cases they may also cover other building systems. There is a free online training course on Designing and Retrofitting with Propane Gas that has information on how incentives can fit into building and remodeling plans. This course and other propane related courses are available at www.propanetrainingacademy.com.
